Meet Flying Fortress CrossFit: Danielle Lipscomb

“I work full time and I am a part-time student at University of Houston- Clear Lake. I am married, a full time Stepmom to a High School Senior, and a Fur Mom to 3 furry boys. 

I was not happy with myself or my body and I knew I needed to do something and find something that I would actually stick with. I was actually terrified of CrossFit and thought there was absolutely no way that I would be able to do the workouts. A friend talked me into trying a class and although I still wasn’t sure I could do it, I went back day after day. I realized pretty soon that instead of the gym being a punishment, it was fun!

My favorite thing about CrossFit is the community and especially the community at my box. We laugh, cry, sweat, celebrate, and whine together. I have met some of the most amazing people who from the very first day I stepped foot in the box have believed in me, pushed me, and encouraged me. Being around these amazing people has literally changed my life. The CrossFit community as a whole is pretty amazing, I have been to competitions where people get PR’s and a total stranger next to them is cheering as if they have been bestfriend’s their whole lives. We are all in it together and that’s not something you can find at a regular gym.

This is a really hard question! I can’t really decide whether the clean or the deadlift is my favorite. Lifting is my favorite. I also really like any of the benchmark workouts, because I like to be able to compare my times and weights to see my progress.

You can do it. I promise you can. All the workouts can be scaled and the Coaches will walk you through everything. It will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made; because in the end, you are investing in yourself. For one hour a day, it’s all about you and your health.”
